Experience

Lab Operations Manager

The Scripps Research Institute · La Jolla, CA

Dec 2021 — present

  • Lab Operations & Personnel Management: Manage 40+ personnel across multiple lab spaces, handling hiring, onboarding, and daily coordination across bench and instrument work. Oversee equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and vendor relationships. Track procurement orders, manage inventory, and coordinate supply chain logistics.
  • Systems & Infrastructure: Built and maintain Notion-based operational infrastructure integrated with enterprise systems (Outlook, Slack, Microsoft) for personnel tracking, task routing, and project management. Maintain grant accounting software to track spending across 20+ simultaneous funding sources ($2M+), handling split salaries, cost transfers, and account reconciliation. Manage equipment inventory databases and maintenance logs.
  • Equipment Optimization: Extended nitrogen supply line during Waters LCMS install to eliminate twice-weekly N2 refills on Agilent TOF—reduced downtime from ~4 hrs/week to ~once every 2 months. Identified supply chain gaps and renegotiated vendor contracts, saving ~$25K annually. Handle ongoing troubleshooting and repair coordination.
